We want to create community pioneers who help shape how we live, how we eat and provide us with the skills sets every strong need to thrive at its base.
We look at the state of the world and realize that the existing education models do not lead to satisfactory economic and social outcomes for the majority of youth 18 to 25 from underserved communities. Holding up the examples of the few that made it does not translate to real community uplift. Youth coming through our public school systems lack experience and access to other useful and purposeful career paths.
They lack direct access to industry and business sectors where the individually developed skills sets can be the catalyst to successful lifelong outcomes.
Youth from communities without privilege need purpose built settings to introduce them to and educate them about innovative systems and technologies that can transform their lives. Log Hollow the farm acts as a living laboratory to introduce students to real world scenarios. Food and housing are at the foundations of our communities.
They account for a major economic activity within our communities and yet we own, build and maintain very little of that infrastructure.
York college of Ag and Tech exists to close that skills gap.
