Summary of Board Positions

  • Treasurer to oversee and report to the Foundation the financial operating position of the foundation. They work with the executive director to encourage best practices in managing an entity of this type.
  • Education & Accreditation Officer to be responsible for crafting the curriculum and getting us regional accreditation for the degrees and certificates we will offer. This individual will build out the CoreSelf curriculum at the base of the college.
  • Capacity Building and Fundraising Officer to focus on seeking grants and private funding for operations and an endowment. They will work closely as a team with the Executive Director to serve as the public face of York College Foundation.
  • Infrastructure and Campus Development to oversee the design and build out of the farm and college infrastructure to serve the mission of addressing the skills gap.
  • Legal and Structure to focus on our structure, our relationships, our contracts and agreements. They will be the liaison between the board and our attorneys. They will lead any negotiations we enter.
  • Agricultural Venture Accelerator to lead our farm programs development and recruiting efforts for both faculty and students. They will bring in fellowship programs and nest community based programs under the York College community programs umbrella.
  • Technology Venture Accelerator to lead our tech sector initiatives and recruiting efforts for both partners and tech students. They will bring in market making endeavors and oversee the business development center.
  • Interdisciplinary Venture Accelerator to lead the development of the creative commons and hospitality programs development and recruiting. They will oversee the public spaces of the York College campus.
  • Community Development Specialist to lead the relationship development and ongoing community development efforts of the foundation. They are an integral part of maintaining the foundations with our varied and wider communities across the region.

Board Member Obligations

Term Limits

2 year terms - renewable twice by majority vote of the board plus the executive director to prevent dead locked votes. No more than 6 years can be served on the the board. 

Meetings

Board meets once a month in general. Occasionally the board will decide to convene more or less frequently per the agenda needs of the foundation. The board may also choose to  create sub committees to perform special tasks and report back to the board for final decision making.

Board Compensation

Board Members receive in kind compensation including, farm stays, CSA participation, occasional bonus stipends for achieving board goals and growth objectives.
